When Time Falls Asleep
This poem was written during my residency at The Columbia in partnership with Roman Road and was inspired by conversations with resident artist and musician Jack Laver.

The bed is made
where time will lie
Imprint itself
No standard bed it is
for it is a liquid bed
with no frame or mattress
A bed where time can go for a swim
before lights dim
before it falls asleep
before the effect of its presence
locks itself in place
before poetry can no longer be written
before time is bedridden.
